Activation On Business Account

My Problem Is I Am Told You Can Not Activate An I Phone On A Company Account ............. And That You Have To Change Your Plan And Sign Up With Apple And Use Their $20 Dollar Data Package ..... The Money Is Not The Real Issue But The Fact That All I Want Is To Use This LIKE A NORMAL CELL PHONE On The Company Plan And Number That I Already Use ...... Changing My Plan And Number Are Not Options ..... Plus The Phone Looks To Be Locked Until I Do Something With Apple. I Already Tried My Sim Card And Got Nothing ....... Any Ideas ....... I Hate To Be Such A Dumb *** About This But This Is My First Exposure To This Device ......... Help And Thanks !

Yes, you have to be on a personal account. I was on a business account, and probably one of the first to change to a personal without losing my number. You can do that, but it's tough. You don't want to change your plan, so your options go into jailbreaking and using AnySim, so you can use your current SIM from previous phone.

By jailbreaking and using AnySim, it will allow you to use the iPhone using your current sim with you current number and plan. You won't use the sim that came with the phone.

Look at the Wiki Guides and the forums to figure it. Many people on here will help you with anything you need.

i just purchased a iphone but i cant use it do to the fact i have an att business plan. if i get the iphone unlocked it should work right? i just purchased it couple days ago. what is the latest version out? 1.1.2? also if it works i dont have a data plan, which data plan do i need to get? thanks for all your help guys.

We have purchased 2 Iphones from ATT. Basically let them run the credit check on you personally, and they will sell you the phones, for which you will have to agree to a contract. But ATT does not activate the phones.

Now, B4 activating, jalibreak, OKtoPrep, etc. insert your business sime card and activate the phone. I do not believe that the personal account will ever bill as it was never actually activated. If it does, so what, you can pay the $175.00 fee to close the account, and you do not have to return the Iphone.

Important, make sure that your business account has media package, or th $20.00 package on it B4 you start, and also that ATT has updated your sim to 3G type.

As I stated, we have 2 working, you loose virtual voicemail feature, but still have normal v/m.

Give it a try....worked for us.

if it says 3G (cingular) on the sim is the correct one right? also what do you mean media package? also what data plan are you using. when i called they were telling me different prices and all the data plans. like the pda and so forth... thanks for your help

Yes it says 3G. All you need is the Media Package. I don't necessarily know what they call it, one of our phones had blackberry plan $20.00 a month, unlimited data (internet) and 200 text msgs.

On the personal plan they call it a Media Maxx 200. I don't remember what I added when I changed mine, I was using razor and just had them add internet access B4 I hooked up Iphone.

right now im using the razr phone also. i should just call 611 and tell them i want the Media Maxx 200. correct? and that plan is unlimited data w/ 200 text and is it $20 a month? thanks for all your help

Actually Jailbreak, taking back to 1.1.1, Apptap, OKtoPrep, 1st time confusing, but if you follow the wiki or other posts on this site, it is easy.

The other thing I found is if you use Itunes 7.4.2 instead of 7.5, it works better, not sure why but it does. After jailbreak, etc. make sure your business sim works, then you can upgrade itunes, and Iphone to 1.1.2.

Rest is easy, if using exchange for your email, there are posts about how to get around that also.

Whether or not you can use a personal or business plan has nothing to do with the iPhone. It's a decision made by AT&T, you have to change AT&T's views, not the iPhone.
