Is there any way to unlock an out of the box iPhone that is running the latest firmware (v1.1.1) by default, using a simple method like iNdependence 1.2.4.?
Essentially I'm asking if there is an unlock application that is compatible with new firmeware v1.1.1 that is NOT iPhoneSimFree.
My previous method of unlocking my iPhone (running v1.0.2) included the following steps:
-Run independence to activate and
-Run appTapp to load installer.
-Run installer to load community sources,
DNS Tools, BSD Subsystem, OpenSSH
-Connect Iphone to WiFi
-Connect to iPhone via ftp client(cyberduck)
-Upload & Overwrite lockdwnd file
-Reboot & run iUnlock.app

10-21-2007, 11:39 AM #2Independence 1.2.4 Itunes .7.4.2 and Anysim will do all the job
The new version of Independence 1.2.4 ( the Napoleon One!) practically replaced all the Utilities you cited it jailbreaks restores downgrades upgrades ssh ( anysim or whatever) and activates 1.1.1 Iphones only one regret it doesn't
put Installer App right of the box as app tapp use to, but it is coming I think!

Hey thanks for the speedy reply elfribo!
Haven't tried unlocking with anySIM. It says you need your new SIM before you run the app...and this one is for my friend. Can I use anySIM without the sim in it?
UPDATE** Looks like you can use anySIM with out the simcard in the phone.
