Installing Tiger on Power Mac G4?
Ok so here's the back story.
A friend of mine gave me a mac he had been given saying that it had no OS on it, so I took it home and booted it up then got presented with "You need to restart your computer" error every time. After hours of messing around, I gave up and installed Ubuntu on it, just to make sure the machine wasn't completely fried.
Now I've used Ubuntu for a while before and really getting bored with it and want to Re-install OSX, I have no original disks or anything and have no clue about Macs. Last version of Tiger I downloaded just gave me a black screen after booting from CD. I would be grateful if someone could help me out.
Thanks

I will say this:
PowerPCs are very old! And newer applications ONLY support Intel Macs!
Are you sure you completed your download?Last edited by awesomeSlayer; 08-11-2010 at 07:05 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Thanks for your reply. I knew it was pretty old but couldn't complain for free. Yes I'm sure the download completed successfully however i don't think the burn process completed successfully because it was a .toast file and I only have access to windows pcs
