Voicemail button/indicator not working with AT&T (no iPhone data plan)

Hello all,

I have an iPhone on AT&T without the iPhone plan. When I click the voicemail icon, it takes me to the visual voicemail setup which of course it can't connect to, and when I recieve a voicemail, I don't get an indicator for it. Is there a fix for this?

I want it to just goto my normal voicemail. The *5005*86*mynumber# hack does nothing.

there is a thread about how to set up your voicemail for tmobile and att as well.

Do you have a link to that thread? If it uses the *5005* trick, then its a no go for me.

Bump, I recently removed the data portion from my iPhone plan and called AT&T to get a voicemail box setup and to have edge and medianet blocked.

I'm having issues getting the voicemail button to work and to get notifications on the phone when new voicemail arrives, anyone?

Edit - Reset All Settings on the iPhone fixes it

I used iLiberty to jailbreak and activate my 1G iphone and I'm having some trouble. I currently have ATT on another phone. So, I took this SIM card out and put it in the iphone and it says that there is not a valid SIM card installed. The SIM works fine in multiple other phones, but NOT the iphone.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knows if I'll be able to install the software update v2.0 with a jailbroken/hactivated iphone?

I also tried to activate through the official process and then drop the data plan, but after several unsuccessful attempts, I gave that up.

Basically I'd like to use the iphone as a phone and not have the pay the monthly data plan.

Any help you can offer would be most appreciated!
