Thinking about dropping Unlimited and going with AT&T Tethering--Good idea or bad?
The short story is that I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 with a cracked screen and want to upgrade to the 4S...today. I'm still running OS 4.0.1 on this phone cause I don't feel like keeping up with all the latest jailbreak stuff. The only reason I'm jailbroken is so I can tether with MyWi.
Basically, what I'm wanting to know is if it's a bad idea for me to move to the 4GB data plan with tethering ($15 more than my unlimited plan). I only tend to use about 2GB of data per month. I'm really just tired of always having old software on my iPhone and would like to be able to keep up with the latest updates. On the other hand...if there is some other way to get tethering on the iPhone 4S without jailbreaking (I know there used to be a download at help.benm.at) then I would give that a shot before downgrading my data plan.
What do y'all think I should do? Is there a non-jailbreak tethering option for iOS 5 that I'm not aware of? Thanks!
Actually there is as I just read about a tricky little app that will do this. It's called "PayupSucker" for 0.99.
Go to FSMdotCOM and one of their recent articles describes how to use it. It's disguised as a simple IOU notepad where you can remind yourself when you iwe someone money. However if you type in a special word/phrase it will let you set up tethering.
