iPhone on AT&T's GoPhone Service ??
I have a few questions about using AT&T prepaid for my phone:
1. Will I get serivces on my phone with this? I remember a year ago it would not work and that's why I switched to T-Mobile prepaid.
2. If it does, will I need to carrier unlock my phone?
3. Will I be able to get 3G data? I plan on using their $50 unlimited everything plan

1. Yes it *should* work
2. No need for unlock
3. 3G is available

Following up on number 3: If you add on a Smartphone data pack ($5 - 10MB, $15 - 100 MB, $25 - 500MB), yes you'll get 3G/EDGE/GPRS data working after APN tweaks (see how to do so in the GoPhone sticky above). Otherwise, no, as the $50 plan includes no data for the iPhone. That's assuming you have an at&t-locked iPhone. We still don't know if an non-at&t iPhone bypasses the smartphone data paywall.
If you want a similar option with included data, look into H20 wireless. They have unlimited data, talk and text to any phone for only $60 (vs. $75+ for GoPhone), and has the same coverage as GoPhone/prepaid. Their $50 plan includes 250MB of data (vs. none for GoPhone smartphone use on equally priced plan). You'll still have to do APN tweaks to get data working on the iPhone, just like on GoPhone.
Hope this helps.Last edited by GenesisDH; 09-11-2011 at 04:48 PM.
