Calling ATT to get unlimited data
Complete fail.
I'm jealous of anyone who can call AT&T and threaten to cancel service and switch to Verizon for unlimited data and successfully be offered unlimited data.
I was just on the phone for 15 minutes with an AT&T rep and a "resolutions manager" or some crap and they both told me that they couldn't offer me unlimited data. I pointed out some facts and stuff, and then finally ended the call with, "Alright I guess I'll be visiting an AT&T store soon to cancel my service."
At this point, I really don't think AT&T cares anymore about customers who want to switch to Verizon. If I had gone ahead and asked him to cancel it right away he would not have even tried to get me not to.

If you follow the AT&T cracking down on tethering thread, it is seeming to be most likely that AT&T are trying their damnedest to trick all Unlimited Plan customers into the capped plans. So I wouldn't expect any effort by the AT&T retentions department to offer any unlimited plans in order to keep customers.
I'm surprised that they haven't tried to shift me from my Unlimited plan, as I access my employer's exchange server for my work email, which normally requires the Enterprise data plan for iPhone, which is unlimited data for $45.Last edited by Sherminator; 05-20-2011 at 05:35 PM.

ATT can probably tell when people are bluffing depending on the years of service they been with them and when they last signed a contract.
If I called and said that they would laugh because I have 4 lines and all are within contract, which means enormous bill for ETF. And also I have had 6+ years of service with them.

That pisses me off. Bleah. I would totally get Verizon too, but the fact you can't use data while talking bothers me, as I always do it.
What was the 2G trick?

Forced to change plan from unlimit to 4g for $45
I will change my plan to $15 . Just waiting for my contract end.
No more iPhone if no unlock one for sell. (I love my iPhone) , but if I cancel now, my iPhone become paper weight (locked). I think att try to screw all unlimit plan user. I even didn't tethering in may after i got messenge in april . They still change my plan. I think they don't care about us any more. Any way I use less phone after I have my ipad2. It's time to screw AT&T .
if I really need pay $45 plan in the future , they are not my carrier any more. (I am with AT&T almost 10 years. Screw u). Will tell friends do so.

I threatened AT&T that I would switch to Verizon. Twice. Didn't work. Funny thing is I actually did switch to Verizon

So no bluff. Whether they can tell people are bluffing or not, they'll still let you go! Had 2 lines with iPhones paying over $150 a month, not like I was paying pennies to AT&T. ETF and final bill came out to over $600. That was fun

I called AT&T as well with the Verizon threat.
Still denied even though I spend $122 a month and have no contract.

I actually heard people having success with using the Verizon threat whether it be a bluff or not, and some people actually got it done for them. But this was waaaaay after the initial release of Verizon's iPhone. Think they lost a bunch of people before they started allowing it, but then after a while they stopped again. They probably stopped caring after doing so many exceptions to the unlimited data.

Years ago they took away unlimited data on our service providers, get that! Could only be on the internet for a certain amount of time.....
I am sure in time the unlimited data package will come back.....
AT&T doesn't care and won't budge because they now know just how many people left them for Verizon and they don't feel threatened by Verizon because many stayed with AT&T.Last edited by thetoothfairy; 06-05-2011 at 03:01 PM.
