Default Using AT&T chip without data plan

Is there a way to use my AT&T chip in my jailbroken iPhone without having a data plan?

Not sure what you mean by "chip", but, if you mean the sim card, you can replace it and use the phone as a ATT goPhone without unlocking.

I've got data turned off on my 3G goPhone... and just use wifi.

even by doing that att will catch you and add the data plan it will be a never ending fight my suggestion is just to get the cheap 15 dollar data plan and not use it that much

Been using it since early Dec 2010, and they haven't bothered me yet (fingers crossed).

I think people run into issues when they use data on the GoPhone (at 1 cent per kb), and ATT detects iphone data use w/o a data plan.

I've NEVER used data, so for now, I think I'm good.

I guess I could use data, and see if ATT charges me for a data plan, but I'm going to let sleeping dogs lie

Didn't realize At&t revised their gophone data plans:
