    Default Roaming

Ok I know if use my iPhone in Mexico or Canada it will be roaming.

Do you get a notification that alerts you that your roaming if your in vacation in different state where att coverage might lack.

If I live in California and use my phone in Vegas will I hit with any extra fees?

No, but if a majority of your usage is not on an at&t network they might disconnect your service or attempt to charge you for excessive roaming.

As for knowing if you're roaming, check gophone coverage map to know where at&t's network is, or ask for the 4EON SOC code placed on your account/line so your phone shows 'Off Network' when you're on a non-at&t network.

That said, Las Vegas itself has a decent at&t native network. My fiancee went there twice, among other people I know, and had no problems.
