"AT&T data plan loop-hole"

Hey guys, I'm wondering if the "loop-hole" is still open. You know, the iPhone 2g on AT&T. Then switching back to 3G data plan.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'd have to find someone with the unlimited data plan b4 joining AT&T.
Anyone wanna help out? I know this is absurd; but hey I'm a data guzzler pandora, nova and always downloading stuff.

try saying you would rather cancel and go to vz for unlimited and maybe they'll make an exception for u. cable companies do that when u say u will go to a competitor. sprint always gave my mom perks when she said she would leave

so i busted out my iphone 2G, went to ATT and had to get a 2G sim card for it to work (does not work with micro sims anymore). said my iphone 4 was broken and i may be using my 2g for a while.

went home, activated via itunes etc and got 200 messages and unlimited data.

returned to the ATT store shortly after again and said i called apple and my iphone 4 worked and that i needed a new micro sim. got it and popped it into my iphone 4, hour later got a text from ATT saying i needed a data plan for my iphone and they had given me one.

30$ unlimited data plan is back with me on my iphone 4

this was 2 days ago, should work for anyone else who wants unlimited.

i don't think so, wouldn't hurt to go in and ask though (seeing as your getting a new sim and switching your plan around, no, no it wont).

But again ATT hires them for a reason :P

Mind checking your AT&T MyAccount to see if the contract date was messed with?

I currently don't have a contract but do Have an iPhone 2g.

Can I go in get it activated and get unlimited data?

Also would I be able to make it to family plan a week later or so?

So guys, I DID IT!!! it still works. Just got my iPhone 4 right now.(bout to jailbreak) it.
Just go in with ur iPhone 2G. Get the sim. Activate it via iTunes(you might need to call them up and confirm it. They don't offer the iPhone 2G plan any more.

I went in with my iPhone 2G. I didnt sign a contract, Waited couple if days, got iPhone 4 with unlimited data plan with a 2Years contract.
But I think it'll still work if you don't get the contract. I got it cus I needed 1.

ya I don't want to sign a contract with the iphone 2g, I would sign one of course for the iP4 if I was able to upgrade and keep my unlimited data.

for those of u who succeeded in doing this, did the data plan change from the 2gb to the unlimited edge show up on ur account or was it after u did the unlimited edge to unlimited 3g that it actually showed up?
