Are you saying you have no service with AT&T on your iPhone?
01-27-2011, 10:54 PM #3
Yeap, I was using a normal device no the iPhone now I'm trying to use the sim but there's no service

Is that iPhone a US phone?
01-27-2011, 11:02 PM #5
yes it is

Have you tried restoring it and setting it up as new? I can't think of any reason why an iPhone locked to AT&T won't work with a functional AT&T SIM

1. The iP is jailbreaked and unlocked
2. The services in the sim is just txt and calls
Do you think if I update the iphone to the latest firmware It'll work with just TXT and Calls, no data plan?

So you are receiving service in general? Like for calls. The top where the carrier name is supposed to be doesn't say no service then? You're just wanting to get data to work?
Edit: sorry you said no data. I'm not understanding then, what is the problem? Are you receiving service for calls then?

Ok, let me explain myself, I was using a nokia device, not a smartphone and I only got txt and calls as services, but i want to use an iphone jailbreaked and unlocked with the same sim, just txt and calls, but instead of the carrier name in this case att, its no service or searching...
Do you think i need to get a data plan for use it with att?
01-27-2011, 11:49 PM #10
No you shouldn't need a data plan to make the phone pick up signal.
You might try removing the unlock. Did you happen to jailbreak it with Limera1n or Greenpois0n? I ask because if you're on the official carrier and you don't activate the phone with the SIM before jailbreaking with limera1n or greenpois0n, it will cause no service

I use to activate the iphone with the original sim, no the sim that i'm trying to use.
I used greenpoison, now if i restore it and i activate it with the old sim, can i use the new sim ?

Ok, explain to me, you have 2 SIMs. Are they both AT&T? Are they both active SIMs?
I wanted to know if you activated the phone before you jailbroke it...

At the begining I update to 3.1.3 i think with the old sim, and then i jailbreak and unlocked it, then i finish the service with tmobile and i update it to iOS 4.1 using it as ipod and using a new service with att with a nonsmartphone, now i'm trying to use that simcard on the iphone jailbreak and ios 4.1
And, yes i activated with the original sim, when i update to 3.1.3 and 4.1

What kind of iPhone is this and do you have any SHSHs saved
01-28-2011, 12:49 AM #15
is a 3Gs and yes i do have my SHSHs saved
01-28-2011, 12:53 AM #16
And you said it's unlocked? But if you're using AT&T you don't need to unlock right?
So try a restore to 4.1 with your SHSHs with TinyUmbrella's TSS server running.
Then jailbreak it again, but be sure to activate it first before jailbreaking. Test to see if it picks up signal before you jailbreak so you can pinpoint if it's a hardware issue or a jailbreak problem.

I give up! So I update and works fine, the problem is now i got the latest firmware and I can't jailbreak, any suggestion?
01-28-2011, 10:48 AM #18
That's why I told you to restore to 4.1 because your jb is probably tethered on 4.2.1.
Go ahead and downgrade to 4.1 and then you can jb untethered.

Ok I'm back to iOS 4.1 and jailbreaked, by the way thanx for your time to help me
