What is your Federal Universal Service Charge?

Hi,

I just recently started to educate myself better on some of the charges on the ATT bill. One of them was "Federal Universal Service Charge." After some googling, I gained some understanding of what it is. Now, I am wondering how much other people are paying for this fee.

I feel mine is pretty high ($12.29/m). Is this pretty much what other people are paying as well?

One other thing I read (if it is credible) is that the amount of this fee is determined by phone companies, so how do we know they are not ripping us off?
