Texting and Im's

If I dont get a texting plan but I buy a Texting App while ATT Charge for the text that i sent/recieve from the app?

Do they also charge if I were use im without a texting plan?

Any app you buy will use data plan not text for Im's or the texting apps. So no they will not charge you for text.

ok thanks... because on att's messaging package it says for Instant Messages too.

if you use IM on your phone (MSN or yahoo that comes installed; iphone doesnt have this) it applies.

but using a 3rd party app (beejive, fring, textfree) will use data and not carrier's text plan. i use beejive and textfree and they DO NOT count toward the SMS used.

Using aim on the iPhone is free. And just download textfree to get free texting.

yes. thats correct.

the IM fee is for phones like samsungs and LGs that use the WAP browsers. you go to "messaging" in the MENU and the IM program is there.

in short, dont worry about IM fees with your iphone.
