Upgrading iphone4 question

Im on a family plan with my brother and he has an upgrade. I am going to use that to get my new iphone4. My question is when I order it will the phone come with a new sim, since they're micro now, and will it have his number already on it? Or do you call and activate a number? Because im going to use it for my line. Thanks in advance.
