Default auto added data plan, iphone is not from at&t
I too have a situation: I am in the US about 6 weeks a year, have a basic at&t plan and last month they auto added a data plan. I have had the iphone and used it over 6 months in the US for more than 6 weeks this year... I think that they got me because I had to reinstall it from scratch and activate through itunes... I am about to see what can be done, but I did not buy my iphone from them nor in the US and I received a bill yesterday for a data plan, which I won't use... so I will see what can be done in the coming days to take it off.

Pay the $350 cancel fee, throw a GoPhone SIM in or use Skype and you're good.

I agree with the GoPhone solution, but just to post what I did about the auto add data plan.. I called and told them that I am not using an iphone and they took it off... They asked what kind of phone that I had and I told them a Motorola Tundra.... I am about done with at&t and I think it is time to not have a phone associated with a service...
