how to get iphone onto gophone
fed up with doing hacks and tricks on prepaid tmobile, and from what i read it looks like att has better quality for data on the prepaid. I only use my iPhone for email, so the $20 option should work fine.
for the sake of the forum, i was hoping we could make one thread with clear directions for new gophone people (such as myself) to get started with activation.
how do i get my account activated?
do i need a fake IMEI from another phone? or, can i finagle my way around it? i really don't want to find an old phone...

if you already have an iphone you don't need to sign a 1or2 year contact. So why use GoPhone?

i only use data/text, ad tmobile has a $1 per day plan, but no internet, just email.
either way, i keep getting conflicting reports. i am getting an ATT sim card in the mail tomorrow, got it off ebay. will i be able to activate it over the phone for prepaid without giving att an IMEI number?

Which iPhone do you have?
I have a 3g jb and unlock and I've never had an AT&T sim. I still don't know what you mean about the imei. Who/what is asking for the imei ?

I will be getting a 2G iPhone this weekend and have the same issue. I have heard you need to activate the sim beofre you out it into a phone by calling at&t or going to a store. Don't tell em it's for an iphone. After thats done, I think you just put it in the phone. IDK, but a thread about GoPhone activation would be nice, as long as there were some answers.
To the guy that posted "restore it with the gophone sim", resotr what, how, in itunes????
I would go the T-Mobile route, but there coverage here is very bad so I'm stuck.

i would like to hear more about the restore method for my iPhone gophone sim. i upgraded to 3.1.3 because i needed Apple to do a diagnostic which resulted in a replacement phone (presumably refurbished) for my iPhone 2G which was having connectivity problems with blackra1n. i suspected it may be a battery issue but Apple won't look at a jb iPhone so i had to activate it for three days while my replacement phone came in and then i cancelled the account without any activation fees. however, i had to re-unlock it with redsn0w which basically works except for the goPhone problem and now the BT doesn't work either.
any advice?

I dont know if you got it fixed, but it's real easy. This is what I did and I have had no issues yet.
Restore to firmware lower then 3.1.3
Jailbreak with Blackra1n
Boot Neuter is supposed to be installed when you jailbreak it, but it wasen't on mine. So go ahead and install it thru Cydia. After that your pretty much good.
It has to be unlocked in order to use GoPhone because after I jailbroke mine, I still had "no service" but after installing Boot Neuter thru Cydia, I got some bars...lol
Hope this helps. These are the exact steps I did and I have been using it without issues for about 2 weeks.

Ipsw 3.1.2
when i did the JB/UL with redsn0w, i used a file call IPSW 3.1.2 (which seemed weird, since I knew I had 3.1.3 but I just went with it) so does that mean that redsn0w somehow "tricked" the phone into thinking it has the 3.1.3 (which is what show in the 'settings" or the phone) and that I really still have 3.1.2?
If not, how do I "revert" back to 3.1.2. do you have a link which details this process? I'm still bit of a "newbee" when it comes to this. Only jailbroken 1 iTouch and 3 iPhones so far...
