Okay i have a iphone3g and i tried to use it on my at&t prepaid it didnt work i put my sim card in my iphone and nothing happen what must i do in order to get it to work.. i dont have a plan i just put minutes on my phone

Explain what you mean exactly by NOTHING happened.. There are a ton of threads on this subject. I see two on the first page alone of the AT&T section.

okay i had a at&t account but i dont know more i went to walmart and bought a at&t prepaid phone i have the sim card in my iphone its not working i downloading blackrain when i click on make it rain it tells me i have to restore my iphone i have already updated it to the newest firmware just did that but blackrain isnt even working for me im lost now... is it because of my sim card i still have my old at&t sim card

u mean it says no service,
go to settings
general
reset
reset network settings

when i try to use blackrain it tells me itunes has detected a iphone in recovery mode u must restore this iphone before it can be used with itunes... i still havent jailbreak my iphone yet im trying to use blackrain

first restore to 3.1.2
then use blackra1n to jailbreak

yeah it is... i used to use it on my at&t account and it was fine but at&t prepaid uses different sim card then my iphone sim card...
