Since this is a 2G iPhone with a GoPhone sim, the 2G will need to be unlocked to use that sim.

On 3G and 3GS iPhones, they will accept a GoPhone sim and activate with no problems.

Alright cool. Yeah I was trying to unlock it with bootneuter but the very top part of my screen doesn't respond when you touch it so I can't hit the flash button... Any other way to unlock it or get around this problem?

If bootneuter doesn't work, it's most likely because bootneuter was used on the phone once before in the past and the phone is unlocked. The problem is that the iPhone firmware tries to prevent you from using it unlocked. The fix is to download diskaid and find and delete the lockdown folder. Reboot the phone and now it will be unlocked. The lockdown folder will rebuild itself upon reboot but that won't prevent you from using the phone now.

Okay I got bootneuter to work. But when I put my gophone sim into the iphone it says "locked sim" after I hit unlock and type in my passcode it just tells me to hook it up to itunes where it tries to activate and fails... What do I do?

Alright I think I know whats wrong now. Someone said the GoPhone sim is locked to the phone for 6 months if the GoPhone contains an offer for a credit to be added to the account once activated. I guess I'll go get a new gophone sim and it should work on my iphone.

Okay I got a new gophone sim card from the at&t store. I put it in and I have service, but its telling me it needs to go through itunes and of course its trying to activate but it doesn't work... How can I like bypass the activation?

Downloading custom fw and trying it soon...

The answer is in my post above that you seem to have ignored.
