They basically said there is no way they will wave the ETF, even if I don't have service. They said that in my iphone contract it clearly states that you cannot cancel a iphone contract for any reason without paying the fee. Even if you are in a bad service area?
So, I am stuck for another 18 months with unacceptable service or I can pay the $435 ETF for my 3 lines. I am so mad right now I could spit fire

    Sorry, just had to rant.

    .
Don't feel bad... where I am at in Florida the service is so bad that I called and called them last month they gave me $30.00 off from my bill and this month I am calling them again and I am going to request that they do the same thing until they get the new tower in place in Jan. I do not feel it is good business to keep people to a contract if their service is so bad.... they can see what is going on... on your phone through the month...

if you need to cancel your att contract heres two ways without an etf and no you didn't hear it from me >_>

    1. call in pretend your someone else, say your brother or sister. Explain to them the owner "you" has passed away and is no longer with you anymore. They will cancel the account without adding the ETF.

    2. You're being station outside of the usa and explain there is no ATT towers in "insert country". Make sure you say you are being stationed for military purposes and not deployed.

finally folks if they ask for a death certificate or fax information. Act like you're mad and insulted, and ask to speak to their manager.

You are a dishonest idiot. Faking a death is illegal and when the account is cancelled it will be cancelled under "deceased". If you tried to come back to at&t, whether it be wireless or landline, they will see all the previous accounts you had. I'm not sure if other carriers check on prior history when running credit evaluations. (cell phone history) Anyway that's illegal and if caught you can go to jail.

Giving out false information especially saying you're affiliated with a government entity is also illegal. You can't call and say you are in the Army or being stationed for military purposes if you are not in the service.

I think they should ask for death certificates. You shouldn't be offended because financial institutions, mortgage companies, etc ask for them as proof.

In short I recommend you not listen to that idiot.
