Unlocked 3g on ATT only getting edge?

I have a 3G that I have JB and unlocked on ATT running 3.0.1. I am using the unlimited medianet/messaging plan since my previos phone was a Nokia. I am using the stealth 6.0 settings. I always have the 3g icon in the upper corner so I assumed there was no reason to use edge, so I turned edge off and had not connection. I then put edge back on and turned off 3g (all of this through sbsettings) and everything was back to working again. My question is: does this mean my phone is not using 3g when I have 3g on? Or does it simply mean that in order for 3g to connect, the phone first has to connect through edge?

If you do a speed test you can tell if you're running on Edge or 3G.

Why are u unlocked whe. On AT&T. Mybe it's just ur service. Try going to a AT&T tower to see if it'll worm

So using the speed test app does show that my 3g was in fact working. Here are the results. Does my wifi speed seem low to anyone else?

sry if u dodnt understand. frst as u know u don't need to be unlcked to be on AT&T. The second part is u know AT&T towers where u get service from. Just try and go around where u live like 2 miles. And see if it'll work

You have to be unlocked on ATT to have an iphone without the iphone data plan and iphone messaging plan
