Umm it should. Just make sure you don't buy a prepackaged GoPhone as some of them have locked Sim cards.

what does "umm it should" mean? Do you mean that you know for a fact it will work or have done this yourself and you think the question is a little bit silly, or do you mean that you aren't actually sure and just think that it should work?
I'm in the same boat as the above poster and want to know whats up with doing this.
Also where should I buy a go phone with a sim card if I don't want one locked to the phone?

No. Data is 100mb and 19.99. And it's throttled so.. it's not much faster than EDGE.

I have my gophone chip in mine too, and it eats up data really really fast. It's not worth buying the $19.99 100mb data plan cause if you use it on 3g it will run out hell a fast. I used one $19.99 data Pkg in bout 5hrs didn't know the iPhone would use it so fast. Plus you have to be careful bout certain themes that use data cause you will lookup and have no money on your account cause it starts taking money after the Pkg is gone. Wifi is your bestfriend. Somebody needs to fix this!!!!!

Hi guys, I have used the Go Phone sim in my iphone 2G. My experience is that you set up your account with the included phone then insert sim into your unlocked iphone. Yes, the sim will not activate therefore you need your iphone hactivated-unlocked/jailbroken. If you don't get a data plan and you do check your email or web your time will be deducted and a text message will be sent to you showing your current balance and difference. Its a cool alternative then going for a 2 year agreement with Att IMHO. My brother and his son are going for the 60 unlimited/text gophone. I will explain the same with them. Also, the iphone actually works better with the att sim for some reason..

I will tell you this, AT&T purposely made the GoPhone pointless on the iPhone. Slow 3G data and it's expensive when compared to T-Mobile. For $80 you get unlimited everything on T-Mobile and on AT&T you get a 100mb cap + crippled 3G.

Go to AT&T (not a reseller) and ask them for another sim card because you lost the phone.

I use a GoPhone sim in my 3G and 2G iPhone all the time. I was lucky enough to get offered the $19.99 unlimited data plan for use with my GoPhone. AT&T sent me an SMS at the end of September saying I could add it on for $19.99. I did and I've been using it ever since. It's no different than the real iPhone data plan since it's unlimited. I use it for tethering sometimes and a speed test on my MBP tested at just under 2MB, not bad at all.
Of course they aren't offering the unlimited to the public. I think they are testing it to possibly to bring it back once again. Enjoy your GoPhone iPhone!

@funcritter: So I have a gophone SIM I've had now about a year, and in every other phone I've used it in (BlackBerry, Nokia's, and several Moto Models, and a samsung SGH-i607) it works fine. I have been offered an iPhone 2G in moderate condition, if was to buy this phone, would my SIM work in it? Thanks!
