Yeah it works!
I just went in the told them I had this old phone from them.
I would like to reactivate it. They gave me a new SIM card
w/o charge...Unlike stupid T-mobile. Pay for the $60.
when I got home, took stick the SIM card into my Iphone 3GS.
Works like a charm. No problem..
FYI - about a week before the payment is due..
you get a nag telling that your next payment is due..
in another word, time to pay before it gets cut off.
unlimited talk & text for the iphone...no data though...
Hope that answers your questions.

Buy a Nice used iPhone 3g or 3gs from eBay.
Get a brand new sim card activate it on at&t.com as go phone sim.
Enter a Random IMEI number on at&t.com, wait for them to say your sim is activate and get your phone number
install the sim in your used iphone and then Simply Select At&ts $60 Unlimited Talk/Text
you will have a go phone iPhone with no data and you can update to all new firmwares if you don't plan on jailbreaking it or have a need to unlock it
PS.. It only works with a brand new never before use sim card and you need to put in some random IMEI number when you activate it, and yes MMS does work on 3g and 3gs

I actually had my own iPhone when I started AT&T service and they put me on a month by month plan, not a contract at all. I'm sure I could've gotten that plan if I wanted it because since I owned my own phone they said I don't have to go into any contract or any agreements whatsoever.

I have an unlocked iPhone and I put a gophone sim card into the phone and it says no service or no bars. I don't know what to do, should I get t-mobile?

had the 3gs before the iphone 4 came out.
It was locked because of my stupidity.
Well, i went into ATT store, brought with me an old
ATT. Give them a bunch of BS basically. Told them I wanted
to test to see if their network would be better than T-mobile.
Got a free SIM card. Paid $60. The guy set me up and activated the SIM.
I told him I didn't bring my phone with me.
I had a cheap ATT phone. He was alright with it.
Went home, stick it into the iphone 3gs. Works like a charm.
Just don't like it when it's about a week or so till time's up to replenish the money. It re-directs me to ATT voice to let me know that it's time to pay more money.
That's the story.
But once the iphone 4 came out.
Sold my 3gs and went with iphone 4.
hope that'll help!

Hey fellas, I am not tech savvy what so ever so your help is greatly appreciated.
I am in a similar story Carmen4898 went through and now my iphone 3gs is on factory reset mode waiting to be activated by an authentic sim card.
So will it work if I went for the GoPhone sim card route and register it with an appropriate IMEI code first and then chip it in? What would be the cheapest way to do it? (I live near Washington DC FYI)
And about the IMEI #, I have an ancient Motorola phone bought 5 years ago, can I use that?

will this work with iphone 3g running 4.2.1 ? (not jailbroken or unlocked)
12-18-2010, 10:22 AM #33good question
i wanna say, "yes,it should!" since both are ATT, but i'm pretty sure the iPhone (nor ATT) will support anything other than the postpaid ATT account w/o a jailbreak...maybe ATT has changed their policy since the FCC ruling, but I'm not really sure.

Yea, I know I need a carrier plist but don't have a Mac to build the firmware, just wondering if there was another way like a tweak or something.

I used to use an iPhone 2G with a GoPhone sim. Worked fine back then, it was annoying to keep spending $20 on 100mb every 5 days. I gave up and got a 3GS (which was new at the time).

You have to use Att specific plans and features for iPhone only, can't add or apply features for any other

Can I use the IMEI that came with the GoPhone?
