Default ATT Data Plan - made for iphone / conditions?

    Hi,

in November I (from Germany) am going to travel to Hawaii and want to use my iphone (1st gen, unlocked) for checking emails, twitter, internet... On the ATT Website I found the following data plan:

    ATT Data Plan

Does it work with the iphone? What are the conditions, will I be able to cancel the contract after a month (I will spent two weeks in Hawaii)? Is it possible to order it online and get the SIM Card sent to an hotel? Any other possibilities?

    Thx and best regards,
    adrian

    In princle you are right!

It appears that you have spent little if any time in the US - here things are much more rigid than in EU.
You need a US address and SSN (Social Security Number) to open a phone plan accont.

There are prepaid accounts - but havn't seen one with data (I can be mistaken)

And for a single month - why bother?
    Do hope that helps

You would be better off going with T-Mobile Flexpay than trying to get AT&T. For month to month they don't require any credit or identity verification (like Prepaid).

What's the point? Even if I told you I didn't which I don't, you still wouldn't be able to grasp it.

Why bother, data roaming with my carrier would cost me about 0,2 USD per 10 kb, so 200 USD for 100 MB, any contract would be much more cheaper.

This T-Mob Flexplay, I heard some time ago it doesn't work with the iphone or only using it via VPN?

Any other ideas for a cheaper way than data roaming (don't know how often I will have the chance to use WIFI)?

    thx again, adrian

It works with the iPhone.. just the prepaid Sidekick plan requires a VPN because they blocked all non-sidekicks off that plan..

You can get the legitimate data plan and 300 minutes for $55+taxes. This is unlimited data, 300 anytime minutes and unlimited weekends with no contract agreement or credit check.

I was just going to ask you which plan you recommend on Tmobile. I'm thinking of get a MyTouch and rooting it for something new to play with. And doing a sim swap at times with the Iphone since it truely is the Jesus phone at the moment. Ohhh not to mention saving some bucks by dumping ATT.

Ah, thx, sounds o.k. Is it possible to get this "flexthing" online? What do I have to enter as APN and so on at the iphone? What about the coverage of TMob at Hawaii?

    Thx again, adrian

    Where will you be staying?

You can buy the sim online through eBay or any other venue, and then call and activate it with a Flexpay plan.
