Default Question, 3g iphone with cell one

I know this gets asked alot, but I forgot where I read how to do it. A buddy of mine is going ot unlock and jailbreak the iphone for me. I don't have any data plan etc. I read somewhere about doing something with a prepaid card in it, and then putting the card in i want to use, or else having a blackberry data plan, and still being able to use internet and such on the iphone without the price of the 30 contract a month. Help

Are you on an 'old Dobson' account (using a green or red SIM)? If so, then unlocking the phone will let you get it working for calls & texts, the APN settings I've used last:
    APN: cellular1wap
leave user name & password blank

These are the settings I had used back in 2007 (before the AT&T merger completed in December of that year). I haven't used Dobson since then, so I've not a current account to confirm.

If these settings don't work, make sure they have data provisioned on your account AND/OR you might need to call customer service to find out the settings for yourself.
FYI: Don't tell them you're planing to use it with an iPhone (because they will attempt to migrate you to AT&T Orange), instead tell them it's for a unlocked WM phone or such.

You'll need a data plan (SingalLink or Blackberry) or risk getting charged excessively for internet use ($.03/kB, expensive). I'm not sure if AT&T allows feature adds on 'legacy' accounts, so YMMV there.

    Hope this helps.
