3G dropped, kinda..

My 3G has full bars. its up there in the status bar as "3G"
but when i go to use the internet, pages dont load, apps time out.
its like the bandwith has been reduced to .00001 kb/s
it was happening on and off, just 3G like it would work some times and not others
and i would just use edge. then 3G would work after switching it back on
then it would fail again.

now for the last few hours edge has also had the same prblms.
it says its connected but i get almost no data.

now edge is working again. i cant use 3G at all anymore. its been less and less and now it seems to have failed all together.

ive done resprings, reboots, restores
any ideas?
if there is something wrong with my radio, can i test it somehow?

EDIT: im back on 3G at full speed. idk for how long though. this is making me think its a network issue.
i live in central cali. anyone else having this?

No your not the only one. I just jailbroke the 3.0.1 sms fix after a new restore 3g is on but is not working at all. It works shortly after a reboot to the phone which makes me thing its not a not a network issue rather something to do with the phone.

Might have to do with the fact your both on 3.0.1 and jailbroke with 3.0. I haven't checked the devblog so you might do that. I haven't updated yet I think I'll wait for 3.1 jailbreak and unlock before I go ne farther with updates.

Edit: what about calls any issues there?

ya. i cant get mine to work after reboots, resprings, airplane more. anything.

its been happeneing to me for a while. i cant recall when it started though, before or after the 3.0.1...
damn i need to pay more attention lol

thats a good point. about the 3.01 jailbreak with the 3.0 redsnow.

no call issues for me.. i dont think.
when i was on 3.0
i was having this issue where calls would go straight to voice mail. the phone wasnt off using data or anything, just sitting in my pocket, it happened more than a few times

That could be anything tho. I had problems with iblacklist doing something similar even after the updates, I just uninstalled it even tho I bought it and don't use it anymore. The ex finally gave up so I really have no reason to use it anyway. Since it's in your pocket u can't tell if you have a signal, could be anything interfering with it. Was it random or only when you are in a certain place/spot?

no problem with calls or sms. MMS stopped working but i'm not worried about that. Mine is where ever i am but its working after reboots. And as far as the jailbreak. The Dev Team approved "when jailbreaking 3.0.1 with redsn0w use 3.0 firmware" So i don't think the dev team would approve something that is going to interfer with it i'm restoring now and will know if it is the jailbreak or whatever else. And i had nothing but notifier on my phone.

oh i had iblacklist installed too when that was happening..
i thought it was the cause, but it continued after i disabled the call settings.
must have stuck around though.
and lol your ex stocks you?

its not a jailbreak thing. I'm on 3g right now with new fresh copy of 3.0.1 firmware and trying to get to modmyi.com on safari. Cannot open page. samething for yahoo.com and my email

and since MMS is a data transfer, if your on 3G while its freaking out.
it wont send. it will send over edge however (IF thats even working)

Ya now edge is failing again.
Are all of you jailbroken? Firmware?

Has anybody had this on the unjailbroken fiware?

Lastly, are you Using tethering?

I put 3.0.1 on a 3g I have, used it all day on 3g and no issues. It is not jailbroke and I have mms working is the only mod it has. I'll keep an eye on it tonight and tell you if I have any issues. I'm kinda shocked going from 3gs back to a 3g unjailbroken wasn't as bad as I thought. You can tell it's slower tho.

I'm not tethering, it's activated by the ipcc I used.

so far im thinking its either
1) ATT is tagging us for tethering
2) network is failing
3) Jailbreak is messing something up

i think 3 is most likely. then 1 then 2...

1 is not true.

2 isn't either. (If you drop back to 3.0 Firmware with jailbreak redsn0w not one problem with 3g wifi or edge. So its not the network its obviously 3. The jailbreak is conflicting somehow which means the dev teams needs to come out with redsn0w recognizing 3.0.1

Just rollback to 3.0 that whole SMS attack is BS, read up on it. Too much work to just crash commcenter, you really gotta piss someone off for them to go to that trouble. I used 3.0.1 all day and night and no issues, jailbroke like 25 minutes ago and I have issues now too. Putting this 3g back to 3.0 in matter of minutes then going back to my gs.

This is exactly why I hadn't updated my gs, I thought that it was too good to be true(that all apple did was fix the SMS). They offered the 3.0.1 jailbreak hack way too soon and I didn't think it was tested enough. It mist be one of those works for some ok things, that we've became used to by now.

Yeah and actually Apple isn't going to do any more to it because it works without the jailbreak so they aren't going to benefit us anymore. But i'm back on 3.0
