Trying to use current data plan and avoid getting iphone plan.

I just bought a jailbroke and unlocked iphone. I put my sim from my xenon into my iphone and I cant connect to internet. I have ATT's unlimited data plan and I've heard of people using the 20 dollar/month data plans without getting iphone data plan. Is this true and how can I do this?

I have a medianet unlimited plan and my 3gs and the two 3g I have also work no problem. I have no iPhone plans at all, just medianet unlimited and messaging unlimited it works no problem. I did this to get mms back in November and everything works no problems at all. You may have to make sure the APN on all three settings are wap.cingular

Also there is no need to unlock since you are using AT&T.

Yeah, everyone has been telling me it was unnecessary to unlock. Do i need to un-unlock or will leaving it be alright.
