New 3G - Plan Options?

Ok, so I have a brand new 3G iPhone - never activated. I need data (unlimited), but voice I need minimum - 30-60 minutes max maybe. What's the best option from AT&T for me? And I don't want a 2-year contract.
I spoke to AT&T online and was told online, they can only offer 2 year contract packages and I should call them. I intend to do so (or go in store), but want to know what to expect. I'm thinking T-Mobile might be better, but honestly can't figure out what AT&T has going for me.
