How to get MMS Working (Guide)

First we have to start this with a small note. Pay Attention now.


THIS IS FOR ATT USERS. but this can work for others carriers if you know the MMS settings.
THIS IS FOR THE 3G IPHONE not the 2G.

The easy way of getting this to work on your 3G is to do this.

Find and old ATT phone that you have and set it on the table in front of you. Got that? good...

Take your SIM card out of your IPHONE and then put it in your old phone.

Power on the old phone.

Call ATT from a Land Line or a different phone.

Tell them that you are switching to a different phone. and you want to enable MMS on it.

they will ask you for the ESN of the phone.

Also you will have to change you plan a little.
Tell them to take off the IPHONE data plan and put on the SMS and MMS and Unlimited Data Package.

Yes you read that right.

Once they do that. you will have to reboot your phone.

DO NOT GET OFF THE PHONE WITH THEM YET!

Test your data connection on the phone.
Test sending a MMS message to yourself.
Test a phone call.

if all that is working then great!

the next step gets easier.

Take the SIM out of the old phone and put it in the IPHONE 3G.

power it up.

then goto.

help.BenM.at in your Iphones browser.


Select the ATT setting. and then follow the instructions.






If your lost at this step reffer to this page to get the settings.

once you have finished that REBOOT the iphone. it may take a min.

AFTER your phone is up and running test your browser. see if you get a webpage.

after you do that then go into

Settings > general > Network > Cellular Data Network.



you should now see the MMS Settings.



if you see them. good. close out of that and then goto your Messages and create a new message and then see if you have a little camera icon on the left side..









and thats it...

Pretty simple girls and boys.

PS if you are still having problems with send/rec MMS. Try these settings in the MMS settings under
Settings > General > Network > Cellular data Network.

PSS You should be able to tether after this too..

PSSS. If you cannot see the Cellular Data area. then try going to
Unlockit - APN Changer for your iPhone on your iphone.
then click custom APN
Choose > US - AT&T
then create custom profile
and then install.

Reboot and then check the carrier settings.

Ok here is in hopes of resolving the issue of not seeing the APN settings..

if you are in itunes 8.2 under windows.
CLOSE iTunes!
Download the file i have attached called ATT_US.zip and then extract the .ipcc file.
ATT_US.zip

goto
Start > Run > and then type CMD

a black box will show up.

in the black box type this exactly how it is.

"%ProgramFiles%\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

or you can copy and then right click paste it into the black box.

After you do that open itunes and then goto your iPhone and then press "Shift + Check for Update"

Then navigate to where you extracted the ipcc file. you will see a drop down menu by the file name dialog. click that and change it to iPhone Carrier Confiuration.

Then click open.

It will only take a few seconds. once that is done do a hard reboot on your Phone.
Then power it back up and then see if you see the "Cellular Data Network" settings.

if you see the settings then go back to help.BenM.at and get the settings.

just a side note
According to miatawnt2b you can get the Visual voicemain to work if you use these settings under the Carrier Settings for Voice Mail. I have not tried this personally but let me know if it works.

The APN for visual voicemail is different which is why this breaks VM. Change your visual voicemail APN to:

acds.voicemail

Leave the username and password fields blank... there you go, VM fixed.

I installed the mobileconfigs thing, but I have no cellular data network option under network? I only have a option for internet tethering.

Just tried your PSSS.

Still can't see the Cellular Data network area of the menu.

I realized, there's no option for me to send MMS, anywhere on the phone.

I updated, but then whenever It got done, I restored, to get rid of my cracked apps.

Only tethering is showing up, could it be cause i updated to 3.0, then i restored.

I think it is, because I am having the same problem and I updated then restored. ^_^

Followed above instructions and it didn't work. I have tethering, but nothing else. 3G, updated (not restore) to 3.0.
