Guide: Get MMS and Tethering working with AT&T on 3.0 Beta 5
[MMS ONLY] IF YOU ARE ON THE OFFICIAL IPHONE PLAN YOU NEED TO CALL/CHAT WITH ATT TO HAVE THEM ENABLE MMS!! THIS WONT WORK OTHER WISE.
Ok, just some info here before we start, I am NOT on the official iphone plan, I have a family plan with unlimited text/data. If you are on the iphone plan you will need to call/chat with at&t and get them to enable mms for you, otherwise this wont work.
Ok, you will need to update/downgrade to the first iTunes beta so you can update the carrier settings with the ipcc file.
After that update the ipcc file with this one.
And now, airplane mode, when it comes back up you will notice you have all the MMS stuff in the menus and on the sms app and pictures and all that jazz..
Happy MMSing and tethering

I stated that assuming anyone looking at this was already on beta 5, upgrading the beta is bad, dont do it, you should restore. Then setup the settings. Either way you do you will lose the settings you previously had.
IPCC files are no longer needed since you can access all the info from the settings now.Last edited by designgears; 05-08-2009 at 06:06 PM.

You still have to have your carrier bundles edited to allow tethering and MMS. Either from an ipcc update or sshing the boolean values into your carrier.plist

Ok, after some more research both methods are working, you will either update the ipcc or add the settings manually, either way you will have to wait about a day before the network will actually let you send them to anyone off of att.

The hardest part about this is gettting ATT to change your account. LOL.
The actual steps to get MMS working is pretty easy.

Ya, they are WAY more resistant now, I tried to get my wifes setup that way and they refused and got very hostile. I ended up calling and giving the reps name and told them they were losing an iphone customer because of it. They got rid of the iphone plan and put her on my family plan for free, and credited us a month of service.
