Upgrading to the new iPhone upon release

I remember for the 2g customers that purchased theirs close to the time of the 3g release, they offered them an exception upgrade at the same cost as a non contract person on the 3g.

Will AT&T be doing this for 3g customers who purchased close to the new release?

I would guess so, because I'm stuck in a 2 year contract with a 3g right now and when I talked with them they sounded like that's what was going to happen.
