Just got text from att saying iphone has to have data plan

Was on the 2G and never had data plan. Then upgraded to 3G when it came out then called 611 to cancel data plan. Haven't had it since the 3G came out. Then got a text today from at&t saying the iphone needs the data plan and will be added to my plan....WTF????? Never use 3G, only wifi!!!

Its required with the phone. Just like a blackberry is required to have the blackberry data plan.

Im surprised it took them this long to notice.

i have heard of this happening to people (mostly people with unlocked phones) and nothing ever happens. i wouldn't worry about it as i honestly doubt they will do anything, to me it just seems like a scare tactic. if they add it just cancel it again, for all they know you sold your iphone and put your sim in a 20 dollar gsm phone.

They know what phone he is using. His IMEI tells them so.

Just be sure to keep your data turned off to avoid charges.

Then can however.....if they want too.....just add the data plan to your account.

We've had a few members get that.
