No its an ATT thing. You are simply changing your plan to a non iPhone plan. When your card is in the iPhone it can detect it on their network sweeps and put your plan back to normal.

sounds like an oportunity for a app to comeout that knows when sweeps are or fools the sweep to think its a non iphone device... hmmmm.... (wishes he had more programming knowlege) guess ill just have to keep going to classes.

Yea, i am having to put my sim in my other phone every other day now . The only way to keep it on is to switch from a iphone data plan to a pda data plan, but then you lose visual voicemail. The iphone has to be able to access medianet to get mms. The iphone data plan doesnt allow it. Sim swapping tricks the system for a short time. The only way to fix would be to get att to provision for mms (unlikely) or to spoof ur imei to match ur older phone (unlikely and illegal). The only thing i would like to know is what would happen if i was able to get my old phones imei listed on the account instead of the iphone

well if your old phone is listed would they allow you to have the iphone data plan? doubtfull you wouldnt be seen as having an iphone... apple cant keep hackers out, but AT&T are evil so they are a tougher one to crack.
