AT&T EDGE Speed Test using speed test app
Can you guys turn off your wifi and run an EDGE speed test using the speed test app from the app store? The reason I'm asking is that I want to compare AT&T EDGE speed to Tmobile EDGE speed using a standardize test. When I run the EDGE test using testmyiphone.com, I tend to get inflated result. For example:
I get 281 kbps using testmyiphone.com
and 56 kbps using the speed test app.
I tend to favor the speed test app because it shows the same result whether I test it on my iphone or my desktop computer.

113.4 kbps with speed test and 42 kbps download/20 kbps upload with testmyiphone.com

That's strange that testmyiphone.com gave you a lower result. I expected higher edge speed from AT&T. It is very slow on T-Mobile.

Just did it again today after my test I posted in your other thread in T-Mobile and I got 130kbps down, 19kbps up, a big step up from yesterday.
I'm in southeast Michigan on AT&T with 5 bars...Respect your elders.

With 5 bars on TMobile, I generally get 50-56 kbps if I'm not moving. If I'm in the car, 20-35 kbps, slow.

Using speed test in San Bruno CA with 5 bars I get 23-32 kbps down and 28 kbps up. That really stinks!

I get anywhere between 1300 and 1700 down and 100-260 up.
On T-Mobile in the UK

It is on HSDPA.
3G has a Max of 384kbs down.
My contract with T-Mob expires tomorrow so I was going to go to O2 (the official carrier here in the UK) but was appalled by their speeds which fluctuated wildly between 0 and about 580kbs.
I've renewed my contract with t-mobile for another 18 months. Having decent speeds makes all the difference. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
