help please about iphone unlock and plan capability
Hi.
Heres the situation.
Me, my mom, my bro and my dad are on a ATT and we have a family plan.
I just bought my iphone in the middle of July.
The 4gb version.
If i unlock it with this software coming out can i give it to my mom so she can put her sim card in it. and i can buy a new iphone the 8gb and put my sim card in it and it be regestered to me?
(and if this needs moved, please move it - - didnt know where to post it)
Thanks alot in advance =]

Technically, you can legitimately do this WITHOUT doing the software unlock. If you get the 8GB model, plug it into iTunes, activate it on your number, then turn around and put her SIM into your old 4GB model, plug IT into iTunes and let it replace the phone on her number, you should be set.

The situation is, she doesnt want to pay the twenty dollars a month.
&&
If she does it that way, then she will have to pay.

shes going to have to pay anyway man, the iphone, without surfing the web or checking email, will rack up data charges updated things like visual voicemail, weather, stocks...
Unlocking it is not necessary, but unfortunately you can't really get away with using the iphone without SOME sort of data plan

alright thanks
but one question
if it does get unlocked, what happens if she dont want any of that stuff just besides the phone part and text messageing.
she doesnt need the internet and mail, she just wants to have a sweet looking phone haha. and i told her ill sell it to her at an ok price. =p
and she dont really care.
so if its unlocked does she have to get a data plan cause all she wants to do is use the phone feature.
ok thanks alot.

if she doesn't get a data plan, she will be charged .01-.02 per KB...
and like I said before, she doesn't really have a choice, the IPhone uses DATA as long as its turned on, theres no way around it.

What if you messed with the edge settings so it wouldnt be able to connect to edge? That may work.
