SwirlyMMS taking hours to receive MMS..anyone else?
I ran a few tests by sending MMS's from my work phone (which is VZW) and from my girlfriends phone (which is also VZW). It took hours before I received them. When I send them, they go through to my VZW immediately. But vice versa takes hours. Major delay.
Whats up with this?
Is it Swirly? Or the network?
I'm using the same settings I had before when it worked.

Swirly is just the app. The delay is in the AT&T servers. They can get backed up and the delivery cue for mms can get pretty backed up. You can try calling in to customer care but I doubt it will do any good... it just happens sometimes.

are others experiencing the same problem now? delays taking a hours?
I had someone text from Tmobile to AT&T and it took about 20min.
As far as I know this only starting having this delay after I did a restore on my 3G.Last edited by BarberMods; 12-23-2008 at 11:05 AM.

MMS is a terribly faulty standard and I can see why Apple decided to not touch it. This is a problem with every phone, not just the iPhone. If you are sending MMS messages in between networks (from ATT to another carrier) you can expect to see delays up to ~24 hours sometimes. Usually sending it within the ATT network is quicker, but I have seen delays in that as well.

Wait until New Years. That's when they have the most problems with MMS and SMS. Billions of texts going out that day. May just be a delay. Reboot your phone, try again.

Yea. I've rebooted and even uninstalled and reinstalled a few times. Still have major delays receiving. None sending

this sucks. it takes days sometimes before I receive MMS. I wish I never did the restore.
It never sucked this bad. I don't get it since I'm using the same settings as before

I just tried shutting off, removing, and reinerting the sim.
No change after restarting. Still crazy delay....
Verizon to AT&T MMS takes at minimum 4 hours..usually a full day. AT&T to Verizon MMS is immediate.
AT&T to AT&T MMS is immediate.
So it must be problems with MMS and VZW.
