    Default Confused.. Need Help Pls...

    Hello everyone..

I have some confusion and need some help. I was given an Apple iPhone 4gb. Nothing has been done to it. I am currently an ATT customer on contract with a Family Plan with the Media Max bundle (unlimited data/texting/video,etc) for my Moto V9 3G. I was wondering if I can use the iPhone in the place of the V9 w/o it affecting/changing my contract while still being able to text unlimited and use EDGE unlimited as well? And if possible, how would I go about doing that.. Any risks/dangers other than to the phone itself?? Thanks in advance for your help!

only way to get away with not having to have an iphone data plan and such is to change you imei number on the iphone. i ahve never done this before but i have read peoples discussions. dunno if it is possible. when you insert your sim card into the iphone, at&t recieves a signal with imei number and they know you are using an iphone and they will haggle you to change your plan. there may be other workarounds. if you are going from 3G speeds with your current phone to EDGE with the iPhone 2g, you might be very dissapointed. i had the TILT and when i went back to EDGE it was miserable. so slow. just something to think about. you could sell your 2G on ebay and with some extra money get a 3G. it is way better, trust me.

Jack is correct, don't try it unless you are changing your IMEI number on the iPhone to match a different device (your old phone). When I got my first iPhone, I thought I was being clever and just switching SIMs and using the medianet package instead of the iphone data package...then I got my bill of $1,600 for data usage! Of course I just had to call and say it was a misunderstanding (and add the real iPhone data package) to get the bill cleared.

LOL! $1600? That's crazy... Good thing it worked out for you!
