3G is on........no Internet????

Ok, it says 3G, I have all my bars lit up. I press Safari, Mail,YouTube, any internet service and it says im not connected???
Running 2.2 jailbroke with the latest 1 step guide posted here by someone (thanks again) been running fine for a week.(has plenty of 3rd party on it, all signed, all tested during the week, everything fine fine fine. Today i was using GPSTracker to check it out. It had worked 2 days ago fine. was taking longer drive. anyways, shot about 50 markers.
Before i got home i noticed i had no internet service. Go thome to check my map log from tracker and there were no new positions shown. At first i thought it was the tracker, but it appears the tracker didnt have internet service either. Is it AT&T and their random signals? or is it a bad radio in the phone, or is it a jailbreak issue? (works for awhile and then doesnt type of thing?)
phone and texts work great. But thats not why i bought this. Any clues to get me started? or maybe i have something switched? ive been going over all settings, seem to be the same as before?
HELLLP Please....By the way it doesnt work on WIFI either??

heres what happened
Read a post regarding "cover flow" in iPod
Press the top left pixel to access additional menu and controls. I had done that the night before and tried out the different buttons to see what they did.
1. is wifi
2. is blue tooth
3 is edge
4. is the spinning gear (not sure what that means)
Apparently the spinning gear was the problem. I pressed that again, rebooted and wala- i have internet service again.. becareful pushing buttons that you arent sure what they are....lol good thing i wasnt sitting in front of a nuclear missile control board huh.
