2 3Gs side by side different signal strength
Over the weekend I notice my 3G signal would just drop out and signal bars from 5 bars to no service to search then to 3 to 5 bars, Edge then finally 3G.
Putting 2 iphones side by side my iphone has 2 to 3 fewer bars.
Any idea what the issue may be?

bad radio? my friend had this happen, he took it to the genius and they tested it. it had a bad radio in it.
did both phones have the same exact firmware? both jailbroken? a protective case on either one? those things make a difference.

if it gets bad an begins to interupt the enjoyment of your iphone experience, then i would suggest letting an apple genius look at it. they can replace it for you if something is defective. good luck.

Thanks.
I will give it a couple of weeks. I know have the antennas on the ATT tower behind my house are damaged from the ice storm.
His started doing the same thing so I am wondering if ATT is doing some work on the network.
Thanks for the replies.

Make sure your basebands are both version 2.28. Next step would be to remove the case on the other phone. You have to text with the least amount of variables.

My wifes phone had the same problem. Even after getting it replaced at apple. They said to take it to ATT if it continued. Did that and they swapped the SIM and its working fine ever since.

I've noticed that what strength signal the iPhone is telling me I have and what I really have aren't always one and the same.

Mine did the same thing. I swapped in a new sim at at&t and restored the phone and set up as a new phone. Still losing signal. Took it to the genius bar and they swapped it out. No problems since
