AT&T Prepaid Data Plan Help

I just purchased an unlocked 3g off Ebay. I was planning on using the Pick Your PLan prepaid option with unlimited data. However I just found out that they canceled this.

What should I do? T-Mobile is not an option because they don't cover my area.

I want to go with the prepaid method. But I noticed all they have is MediaNet $4.99 for 5mb a month!

I understand I can still use wifi but this basically makes it the same as a first gen iPhone. I'm pretty upset and not sure what to do. I was very excited about getting an iPhone but now it seems like it won't even be worth it.

What plans are you guys using right now with prepaid? What is the best value? Thanks for the help.

5MB will barely last you a day... I went through 180MB last month alone. It stinks that they removed the unlimited data plan though :-\

I think these are your options:

A) Keep the iPhone and turn off EDGE/3G with Bossprefs
B) Keep the iPhone and get a monthly plan
C) Sell the iPhone and get your money back

If I keep the phone with no data plan it's basically just an ipod touch.. I can't afford to sign a contract with them either.

I really don't want to return the phone, but it's looking like it's not worth it.

The plan is actually $4.99 for 1mb.

However is this just for downloading stuff? I can just download over wifi right?

For example. I'll mostly be using it around wifi anyway. But if I want to check my e-mail or go on myspace with 3g would I be able to do this without going over the 1mb limit? I'm not really sure how this works.

I'd really like to use it like this. I don't mind having to use wifi all the time, it'd probably be more convenient anyway. I just need to know if going on websites occasionally constitutes as downloading over 3g.

yea that counts as anything internet wise...i too am frustrated that they have taken that feature off but till then i just got me a gevey 3G and used it with tmobile...what im thinking tho is trying to find another prepaid service with unlimited internet.....still looking

I might do that but I can only get T-Mobile prepaid and the coverage isn't very good.

How much are you paying for your plans?

just use wifi. u would have to discipline yourself not to browse on 3G. it would be a burden but if your near wifi all he time then you will be fine. just remmber, you cant use maps or GPS ob the fly. that uses 3G or edge while your off wifi. if you decide to sell it let me know.

I think I'll try it out and just use wifi. Does Starbucks still offer free wifi for iphones? Haha.

Zero is your t-mobile plan prepaid? Do you have any data plans?

i have the 29.99 300 minutes free weekends plan, and the 5.99 tzones, then i have the 2.99 unlimited local from skype and use that instead of blowing the 300 minutes

yes i have pre-paid flex account, and 3G on tmobile is impossible....also, they did cut off tzones...they have another unlimited internet plan out now

That sounds like a better option, even though they don't have very good coverage.

Can you use the EDGE?

Yes. 3G is just faster data and phone data, Edge is same thing but slower.
