question about ATT wifi
I was trying to use the free ATT wifi the other day, but the initial splash screen asked for my phone number. Now I'm not on a data plan since I bought my phone online, so I was paranoid about ATT finding out and locking my phone or something (I've heard stories...). Will I be able to use this wifi or am I just being paranoid for no reason?

I believe it asks just to verify that your an ATT customer. Thats it.
And by the way, if your using an iphone on ATT's network....they can tell. The IMEI is transmitted to them, and theres no way to stop it.

It doesn't lock your phone, lol. When you put in your phone number it will send you a text message with a link. Click on it and then you'll be connected to wifi for 2 hours. You get a 2 hour limit at that hotspot.
Whoever told you that should be hit in the head with a bag of rusty doorknobs.Last edited by gQstatus05; 12-01-2008 at 06:21 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
