Non-iPhone unlimited Edge plan?

I'm stuck at a place without Wifi for thanksgiving and I'm seriously considering upgrading to Edge. However, I have a cheap plan through At&t so the official iPhone plan soul take me up like $30/month locked in for 6 freaking months. Is it possible to get an unlimited Edge plan that will not lock me in and cost less?

not with att i dont think. im pretty sure thier data network for the iphone is just for the iphone. T-Mobile is another story though.

Sorry, I phrased it a little confusing-like. I HAVE an iPhone, and I want an unlimited data plan for it. However I would like to get just data without having to upgrade to the official iPhone plan and be locked in for 6 months, if it's possible. Is it?

I talked to an AT&T rep. They said I could go to a $20/month no contract plan just for Edge. I didn't tell them that it was for the iPhone, though. If I upgraded my number to the generic unlimited Edge plan and used it on my unlocked iPhone, would it cause me any extra charges?

CAll in and give them an old IMEI number and ge the $20 unlimited old data plan. It works on the iphone, you even get 3G.

Okay, so since my phone is still listed as my old Sony Ericson, if I have them set me up with unlimited data for that phone I can use it on my iPhone without a problem?

Until they do a network sweep and force you to add the EDGE/3G... which iPhone do you have?

I have the 2g. So I only need it for two more days while I'm at VA-should I do it?
