I just remembered why I left Cingular/ATT 4 years ago
I had been a verizon customer for the past 4 years. One day at Best Buy I walked out of there with an iPhone.
With a number of life events taking place and with the activation date 2 days before the billing cycle I lost track of time and billing cycles.
While I was at home depot my phone had no service. I simplied called 611 and paid the bill and service was back. Got home and called ATT and said I never got a bill. The CS was so rude I just hung up and signed up for the on line payment service.
While at the ATT store getting phones for my wife and son, I notice my bill was a little higher than I thought it should be. There was a reactivation fee on the bill. Seconds later the sales agent asked me which address he should use?
Hmmm perhaps that is the reason I hadn't received the bill. The person at Best Buy put in the wrong address when setting up the iphone.
The sales agent at the ATT store said they would take care of the late fee and reactivation fee when he called ATT monday. that never happened.
I called ATT today and they said they would apply back 1/2 the react fee and late fee because I had the wrong address on the account. The address as correct on my paper contract.
After 13.5 minutes of negotiations and the inability to explain how it ws my error, she agreed to refund the full amount with the understanding that Ihad the wrong address on the account.
" I am refunding you the full reactivation fee and late charge because you placed the wrong address on the account and that you did not pay the bill because you had the bill sent to the wrong address". Just in case this call was being used for training purposes I made sure it was crystal CLEAR that the address was correct on the resopnsibility of the error was the data entry into the registration system which I did not have access to. The CSR sarcastically rephrased hr previously statement.
I hope this isn't the start of more bars = more headaches.

Not to rain on your parade or anything but YOU should know when you're bill is due unless you're one of those "I'll pay my bill 2 days before" kind of dude. When I first signed up for AT&T service and received my phone 3 years ago I went online and created a account and signed up for paperless billing immediately. I knew the time my bill was due and always pay it accordingly.
Secondly, if you go to BEST BUY and sign a contract to get another phone you should READ everything to make sure there are no errors. For all you know the REP at BEST BUY could have signed you up for a lot of useless features to get more commission.
Rule of the day:
If you are signing your name on a piece of paper make sure everything checks out.Android user suffering from iPhone withdraw.

Every piece of paper from best buy has the same addrss as my license. My first and second bill does not have tha address.
gQ if the contract and supporting paper work that I have in my hand is 100% correct but yet my billing address is incorrect hence the reason why I suspect I didnt receive the bill, how can others avoid a similar situation of reactivation fees and late fees?
If the paperwork in hand is correct, how is the customer supposed to know what information is entered into ATT systems?
The sales agent at ATT never showed me the screen or any information they entered. For all I know they could have been entering this short bald headed dumpy little F*** with the iphone is getting 2 cheap azz phones for his wife and kid, what a cheap bastard.
As far as paying bills, if you must know I pay my bills for the most part on line. But for every account I still receive a paper bill, I need something to line the bird cages with.Last edited by bruinsrme; 11-28-2008 at 08:09 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
