    Default Better than tethering?

I was curious that if i got an AT&T usb internet adapter for a laptop (and it runs off of a sim card) that maybe i could use the sim card out of my iPhone to make the adapter work? Does anyone know if it would work or not or am i just barking up the wrong tree.
If anything was usefull a thanks would be great!

The laptop connects require the data card to have its own phone number. They have to issue you an extra sim card dedicated just to the data card...will it work? I doubt it, but I have not tried it with my data card.

I think in order for the data card to work, it needs to be unlocked, like a unlocked phone which may use other sim cards.

I dont think it will work, i used to work for an authorized At&t seller, and when we sold the usb adapters or laptop connects, we had to activate them with new sim cards. Like CaptainChaos said they need their own numbers/sim. This is as far as im concerned, it could have changed

actually it will work. I bought a wireless adapter from Ebay, plug my SIM card in there (as long as it has a tethering package) and voila it works. There are ways to make it work w/o tethering package, but that's my secret.
