I got the same text message and it filled me with unspeakable rage. I called 611 and had to talk to an operator to actually get any information on this and he told me, which I find very hard to believe, that the reason the 19.99 unlimmited package was being removed was because of a LACK of customer interest. Nobody, according to this guy, was using it.
Sounds like nonsense to me.

I think they are just trying to pull a fast one on the iPhone users pulling a fast one on them by using the MEdiaNET service instead of the regular data plan. It should read "It is being removed from a lack of customer trust," however... We should at least get the benefit of a doubt.
BTW, I use the data plan. I don't feel like going thru the hassle to swap it over to the cheaper plan. Oh and how does AT&T justify one unlimited data plan being cheaper than the other?Gamertag - Scikotic IT Guy

Its not even the difference in cost that bothers me. I'd pay 30 bucks a month for it -- I simply don't like being forced into bundling lots and lots of voice minutes I'll never use and text messages I don't want with my data plan. Even paying 25 cents a minute on my prepaid I rarely talk more than 10 bucks worth per month. Most of my calls are less than a minute long -- I don't do any chit-chat. So i'm paying 30 bucks a month for all the voice I want with unlimited data. Why would I want to pay DOUBLE that for the iphone plan and get lots of voice I do NOT need, pay extra for my data plan, and get text messages I won't use.

yes this is horrable I HATE ATT so much dam the day they took over Cingular. I use the unlmited data and would love to pay 30$ a month for data only. Even if it was monthly. Because I don't talk, who does anymore? Is there anyway to get just data, cuz their should be. And that BS about not using it usage went up like a balloon since the iPhone. To end the post and show my lothng of ATT I world rez Hitler to kill Att LOL

I talked to an AT&T rep about it today (via 611) and she didn't know much about it. She was actually upset because she uses the same media net package and didn't think they would take it away.
Regardless, yes they are planning to do away with the unlimited media net and only offer the 1MB and 5MB plans. Also, they are planning to offer it until November 12 so it is available now but not for much longer.
She suggested calling and writing them as much as possible to try to get them to not discontinue it. I know I will do whatever I can cause I use the media net package a lot and would probably change carriers if they do discontinue it.
In my opinion I think they realized how much people have been using the media net with the unlimited plans and how much money they were losing. Thus they want to do away with the unlimited plan so that they can make some more money.
