switch numbers on 3G to get discount?
My wife has a 2G and is eligible for upgrade. I want to take her upgrade to get a 3G for myself. Since the 3G has to be activated on her number in store to get the discounted price, will AT&T switch it to my number and put her back on the 2G?

1. Bring wife to store
2. Pay for 3G on wife acct.
3. Go home
4. Take wife 3G
5. Give wife 2G
What's with the deal of having ATT switching numbers? I don't get it. Do you mean when you upgrade, you have to give them your old iPhone? Hurr??

you don't have to give them your old phone. it's yours so u can keep it or sell it. they will have to upgrade her line to the 3G but you can then switch her plan back to the 1st gen and yours to the 3G

Pokekid just do as BMXtreme has said no need to complacate things by telling AT&T anything.
Wife goes and upgrades brings 3g home you have 3g wife has 2g and that's it easy.

y'all are over complicating this. just to tell at&t that youre going to use her upgrade to buy yourself a new phone. they will do it without any issues.

I have been saying that all along too
it's easy they don't care about who uses the upgrade as long as they get paid
