Warning for AT&T iPhone users with a jailbroken phone

If you thought, as I did that you could get internet for free whenever you are in a wireless zone, you would be wrong. I just got my first bill since I have started using my iphone and I was shocked to see almost $100 in data transfer charges.

So, if you're going to use it, you may want to buy the multimedia plan.

or turn off edge.

They can't charge you for using wireless.

Maybe he was logging into those AT&T wifi access points with his AT&T account thinking it would be free.....lolz that's only free if you're a broadband customer.

i think u need to DL services off of installer, then u can toggle edge on/off

well, come on. If you use data, you will be charged for data usage. It is not always on WiFi, though it might appear that it is. If the WiFi is sketchy, then it will try to fall back on EDGE

Download net services or services from the installer and shut off edge.

Buddy, some people are new and don't know whats going on, and there is a first time for everything, the guy didn't know what to do give him a break.

By the way toggle it off by getting Services from Installer.app should be around there somewhere and just toggle EDGE off.

i am a legit at&t customer with a jailbroken 1.1.2. never been charged for edge data.I have the 20$ unlimited package.you should try it out.

i also do not have the edge settings in my iphone so i downloaded the netservices app, turned off everything else other than wifi. i check once in a while my usage and data is stuck to 0.

u can simply go on ur account on att.com
and take off internet..
what i did was that i called AT&T and i told em i was pissed off that they did they same thing to me
so i called them took of the internet and i was fine with the wi-fi i had in my house =D
