Default went from 8g to 16g 1gen iphone...

and when i put my sim into the phone, instead of activating it like it should it is trying to make me go through the thing again where i have to sign up for a new plan and all that ****. Does that mean i have to sign for another 2 years everytime i get a new phone, even if it was a first gen phone? is there anyway out of this other than hactivating cos that leaves me with no service and no working visual voicemail or youtube.

This might be extreme for you but an Apple tech told me often in problems like this re-install iTunes.

    hope this helps.

Make sure you're using a computer with a internet connection and make sure that the SIM card is securely in place. With the connection, itunes should automatically start syncing up the iphone for you.
