LOL ^^ you would be correct on that one . Have you forgotten that you must get a contract? It's not optional, and if you don't activate within 30 days of the purchase, you get a nice penalty fee.

If those prices at top are without contracts, I would rather pay the handset with contract, and cancel it the next day.

charlie, canceling contract would require you to return the product u recieved during the time you signed. unless u mean to pay the termination fee and cancel it

will someone please tell me that the person at top saying that non AT & T people can get the new 3G Iphone without contracts, just by going into the store ( apple ) and purchasing one is true.

I'm afraid not "THEREUGO"...... I think our friend there is sadly mistaken. I have my 2G on the pay as you go and I've checked dozens of sites and the only place where you're not going to be able to buy the iphone 3G out right is the US, now if you know some one in italy, call them they've got it for cheap over there.

Unless they are going to REALLY treat this as a whole different way AT&T has ALWAYS let you buy a phone with out a contract you will pay MUCH more for it of course and they will tell you all kinds of crap like if you get it WITH a contract and use THIS plan then you get a better deal, blah blah blah. I was in my AT&T store yesterday and asked them about this, MY store did not know what the non contract price would be. So this IS a possibility.
