Hi all...looking for some help here. I posted a thread earlier this month about getting my hotspot back on my 4s after tmobile forced the carrier update.
I have not been successful at doing that, but now wanted to try something else.
I'm still on the old Tzones $5.99 unlimited plan. I get 4g coverage. I popped my tmobile SIM into my ATT 3G ipad 2, and it picked up the signal and the data...but, when i try to go to a webpage, it looks like it's redirecting me to a tmobile page.
Is there any way around this? Is it possible to use my tmobile data in my ipad 2 for web surfing, etc. without having to log in to something or change my plan? (i did of course edit the APN settings on the ipad).
Thanks for any help.

You need to unlock the iPad 2 to use with other carriers. First, try to contact AT&T to see if they will unlock it for you (free). Otherwise, you can pay for an imei unlocking. There are may services out there (eBay), so read feedback before you pick one. Also, Cowboy (a moderator on here) provides unlocking services, too. You may want to pm him for more info.

Actually, iPads originally purchased for AT&T are totally unlocked out-of-the-box.
What I'd advise you do, OP: if you're not on iOS 7 (and if you aren't currently, I would advise you not upgrade), go to T-Mobile and ask for a new Micro SIM (most corporate locations will gladly give you one free as an existing customer, some dealers too) and activate T-Mobile's free 200 MB data.
As for the T-Zones plan not working for the iPad, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with the correct APN... it shouldn't be checking IMEIs or anything. I must warn you though, the grandfathered T-Zones plans are going to be migrated over to something else... soon.
