I've seen a couple of threads on this but they haven't really been helpful.
So, i have a factory unlocked 4s....I have the old Tzones plan. When the carrier update was forced on me a few months ago, i lost my hotspot.
At my house i finally get "4g" with the re-farm, and so I'd like to use my iphone as a hotspot and not pay for internet service at home.
i'm running 6.1.3 but am NOT jailbroken so 'tether me" is not an option.
I do have a back-up from March 2013 that should have the old carrier bundle....but, if i restore to that back up, will the update just be forced right back? (as some on different threads have said)
Additionally, with the release of 7.0 now, if i restore to that march back up and then update to 7.0, will that undo my tether again (assuming the march restore puts it back.)
Just not sure what to do:
1. Stay on 6.1.3 and try the March update, or (per icarified, there might be a jailbreak for 6.1.3 released and then i could use "tetherme")
2. update to 7.0 and THEN restore from the March back up?
4. just update to 7.0 and wait on a jaibreak and then use "tether me" app? (but this could be months).
5. restore from the march back up and THEN update to 7.0?
I called tmobile they say they can't restore my hotspot without changing my data plan...i can actually change the plan, get unlimited phone data (with no throttling) and a hot spot for $1 less per month, but the hotspot only gives you 2.5g per month before throttling, and i know if i could just get the hotspot back without changing plans it'll be unlimited too.
Any help or direction on what I should do is appreciated.

I use a tweak in Cydia called "TetherMe", works great and no add'l charge from T-Mo.

oops, missed that. Not sure there is much you can do then.
